Each country has one of the four ideologies. These are difficult to change and affect under what circumstances a country can perform certain actions, and what happens to occupied territory.

Communism[edit]

communism Communism is a form of government based on social equality and collective ownership of the means of production.

Tension limits[edit]

Communist countries are not limited by World Tension.

Communist nations can employ Liberated Workers occupation law.

Democracy[edit]

democracy Democracy is a form of government in which the popular vote governs, directly or indirectly. It is characterized by a commitment to civil liberties.

Traits[edit]

  • No Cannot declare war on democratic countries without a wargoal
  • Yes Can impose its ideology on other countries
  • No Cannot puppet a country in a peace conference
  • No Cannot occupy territory owned by neutral countries (it is given to the owner instead)
  • No Cannot justify war goals against countries that have not generated World TensionWorld Tension
  • No Cannot send volunteers (Unless changed by a focus/event/decision)
  • Yes Can guarantee countries with other ideologies
  • Yes Lowers World Tension with guarantees
  • Yes Can host governments in exile
  • No Can prepare collaboration goverments

  • Civilian intelligence to others: +20%
  • Army intelligence to others: +5%

Countries that start out non-aligned[edit]

Changing ideology[edit]

A country can change its ideology in four ways:

  • Having an election while another ideology has more than 50% support. This creates an event that enables a peaceful change of power without a civil war.

  • Executing a coup (see below)
  • Fighting and winning a civil war. The support of the conflicting ideology decides how much troops and states they get at the beginning.

Below is a list of events that might appear if a corresponding minister is appointed or another ideology enjoys widespread support.
