Research pageEdit

Why was the research page truncated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adil3tr (Talk) 21:31, 3 June 2016‎ (CEST)

The main reason is that the research page would be much to long with all the information out of 11 full screen pages of icons in the game plus the effects of all technologies. – Lillebror (talk) 08:43, 4 June 2016 (CEST)

National spiritsEdit

Do the files you name-changed appear only in that name in-game? I assumed since they were marked as generic they are used for several NSs. If they are indeed used once you might want to make further changes within the Category:National spirit icons. ~ SolSys (talk) 10:55, 13 June 2016 (CEST)

Yes. So far I didn't found an icon with two names. – Lillebror (talk) 13:42, 13 June 2016 (CEST)
Found one. Set a file redirct. – Lillebror (talk) 13:51, 13 June 2016 (CEST)

Why remove icons from country info?Edit

I don't see a reason too. It doesn't affect anything, just makes it more visually appealing. --Hunter9502 (talk) 05:45, 15 June 2016 (CEST)

There are many reasons …… I don't like them. They are much to bulky. Appealing – There's no accounting for taste. – Lillebror (talk) 07:45, 15 June 2016 (CEST)
I don't think its really fair to remove them based on your opinion only. It isn't very hard to scale down the icons. --Hunter9502 (talk) 22:39, 15 June 2016 (CEST)
Corrected the indent. Also the icons were enormous and looked totally at odds with the style of the wiki. Images often make linking to sections more of a pain and require the use of anchors. If and only if the images were used as part of the icon template and linked to the relevant sections (such as national focus leading to the national focus page) then that would be acceptable. Dauth (talk) 22:50, 15 June 2016 (CEST)
Alright fair enough. I didn't see the whole redirect problem until now. I apologize. Anyway I may make a template at some time but I'd rather focus on other country things. Thanks Dauth. --Hunter9502 (talk) 06:36, 16 June 2016 (CEST)

There is a place for aesthetics, but from a practical point of view having the printed name and the flag icon adjacent will help associate the two in memory, and knowing the country flags is a useful skill in game. 03:48, 25 February 2017 (CET) Sir Garnet (talk) 03:48, 25 February 2017 (CET)

I don't know why you enter this (finished) discussion three-quaters of a year later. ??? The discussion was about unrelated icons in headings. (See the headings of this page before my edit.) – Lillebror (talk)

Concerning image namesEdit

Hey, I was thinking that maybe we should keep the names of in-game graphics (national spirit icons, tech graphics, etc.) the same as their file names so it's easier for modders to find. I know that I've checked the wiki on several occasions to quickly find a file's name. - Gamengervi (talk) @ 10:44, 31 December 2016 (CET)

The file names are still there as redirects. Many things on the wiki are easier if the icons are named as the technologies, modifiers, taktics, national spirits, … they represent. – Lillebror (talk) 11:58, 31 December 2016 (CET)

Alright, if you say so. Could you modify the country infobox template to include Category:Releasable countries in the sort key? I'm not too familiar with how to do it. - Gamengervi (talk) @ 14:37, 1 January 2017 (CET)

The country infobox assigns all pages with it to the category:countries. All country pages have this template, all these pages should be in this category. No problem. But if you want to assign only a group of countries to a category, you have to code the requirements for this - e.g. with an additional parameter. It's the same effort as adding the category by hand to the according pages. – Lillebror (talk) 17:36, 1 January 2017 (CET)

Cheers for the editEdit

Thanks for trimming the admiral PP thing - was a bit tired to be writing yesterday, but didn't want to let incorrect info stand once I'd seen it - your approach much more elegant :). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Axe99 (talk) 21:32, 15 March 2017‎ (CET)

Many thanks. – Lillebror (talk) 08:02, 16 March 2017 (CET)

Cut the strings AchievementEdit

The only way for breaking free from a puppet state without DLCs is:

  • hope you master will be in a war
  • hope he will loose that war
  • hope that a victor will realase you from a puppet state

It is not a valid strategy.

Remember puppet states cannot change faction resulting in a Civil War. Just tested it without TfV and DoD and had 76% comunnist party poppularity while beeing Dutch East India.

Or am I missing some new feature? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Modes (Talk) 15:11, 25 June 2017‎ (CEST)

The column denotes achievements requiring DLCs. Whether it is easier with a DLC is irrelevant -- you can add back the guide [using the DLC], but the phrasing should be improved [you can consult the style guide for this]. I'll do that.
To be honest not showing that this achievement requires TfV od DoD DLC is at best misleading and at worst a strait lie. It is virtually impossible to get that chain of events I wrote above in-game. ~ Modes (talk) 18:50, 25 June 2017 (CEST)
